Dr. Nair has contributed significantly for
technology
development, indigenisation, diversification and growth of
HAL and also for export promotion. Under his guidance,
various high technology materials and aerospace equipments
have been indigenously developed not only for HAL's aircraft
projects but also for India's Space programmes. A high level
of indigenous content approximately 70% has been reached in
most of the HAL's products. He has been particularly responsible for initiating and implementing plans for
diversification and setting up of new Projects/Divisions
such as BAeHAL Software Limited for export of computer
software, Industrial Gas Turbine Unit for power generation
as part of HAL's Engine Division, Heavy aircraft Maintenance
Facility for Civil Aircraft Maintenance at Bangalore as part
of Aircraft Division and 100% export oriented units for
manufacture and supply of Aerospace components and
structures. Manufacture of Airbus Door and components and
structures for M/s.Boeing were planned and implemented by
him.
Dr. Nair has also contributed significantly in the field
of social & economic emancipation of the physically
handicapped. His pioneering effort in this field had won HAL
