EU-India Project on Civil Aviation: Project Overview Aeronautics is a key asset for the future. Its direct contribution to economic prosperity has been a measure of its success in fostering technologically advanced societies. As users, developers and suppliers of advanced innovative technologies both Indian and European aerospace organisations and industries know the value and importance of continuously developing human skills. Development of new aerospace products and techniques leading toincreased safety in Air Transportation is becoming a very difficult challenge: the cost of developing, producing and controlling new process are progressively beyond the reach of one organisation, or even one country. Companies inside and outside Europe have had to seek and establish partnerships. The EU-India Civil Aviation project is supported by the European Commission, the Ministry of Civil Aviation in India, the European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA, representing the European aerospace manufactures).Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL)and SIATI(Society of Indian Aerospace and Industries). The aim of this project is to contribute to society's need for improved air safety through a broad and comprehensive vision. Project Description: The EU-India Civil Aviation Project, the largest economic co-operation project between the two partners, was formally launched in February 2001. The project implementation started with an Inception Phase lasting until the end of 2001,which is followed now by an Implementation Phase, projected to last three years to end 2004.The Inception Phase has validated the project content, first enumerated in 1997,to take account of the changes that have taken place in the Indian aviation environment since that time. The project will allow for as hort and long-term training to be conduced, building awareness of European safety methods and their possible uses in the Indian context. Contribution are being made by European Ccommission, the Goverment of India and the India and Europen aerospace industries. AECMA ,representing the European aerospace industry, is managing and co-ordinating he entire project in close co-operation with the European Commission and Indian authorities. The central aims of the project are to stimulate co-operation between the EU and Indian aerospace industries in orderto strengthen civil air safety and related procedures in India through work in the following areas, defined as themes of co-operation:
One behalf of SBAC Trade Mission Ms. Linda Lloyd, Manager International Marketing visited Bangalore along with SBAC team on 21st and 22nd Feb. 2002 to have interaction between SBAC Team and SIATI members.
